UNICEF Contracts for Nutrition Surveys using SMART Methods
Several countries in West and Central Africa will conduct nutrition surveys
with SMART methods between June and September 2010. Francophone and
Anglophone survey consultants experienced with survey and SMART methods are
needed to coordinate the survey planning and implementation.
TASKS
The contracts will be for the implementation of a national or sub-national
nutrition survey representative on the regional level. Survey coordination
will be completed in collaboration with the national technical committee.
Following SMART methods, standardization of anthropometrists, data entry in
the field and intensive supervision on data quality will be required. The
responsibilities of the consultant will include development/finalization of
the survey protocol, budget, timeline, sampling, training, field-testing,
data collection, supervision, data entry, report and presentation of
results (10 weeks).
REQUIRED BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
- Post graduate degree in public health nutrition or other related fields;
- Experience with nutrition surveys and SMART methods;
- Good research, survey/evaluation report writing skills;
- Good understanding of malnutrition related issues;
- Excellent skills in statistical analysis tools/software;
- Fluency in English or French
