Reporting malnutrition: NCHS Vs. WHO standards 7 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Many of the surveys coming in now present z-score acute malnutrition indicators with both NCHS & WHO reference standards.

However, for median acute malnutrition, and the z-score chronic and underweight indicators, it is often unclear which reference standard has been used.

What are the official SMART recommendations on the use of NCHS and WHO reference standards and on their inclusion in reports?

Thanks,
David (CE-DAT Manager)

Hi David,

Actually, so far the SMART expert have been recommanding to include in the main core of the report the references recognized by the country, but to put in appendix the results with the other references, in order to be able to compare with previous surveys or surveys that occur in different countries.
I hope this answers your question.
Please feel free if you need any extra information.
